PC Races

Let’s limit PC starting races to the following:

- Human
- Dwaf (Fantasy)
- Elf (Fantasy)
- Halfling (Fantasy – can optionally omit the Mundane Background trait, making this a 30-point template)
- Orc (Fantasy – in most civilized lands, will come with a -10 (Minority Group/Savage) Social Stigma, for a net total of [ -19 ])

- Gnome [ 26 ] (new racial template, outlined below)
ST -1 [ -10 ]
HT +1 [ 10 ]
Basic Move -1 [ -5 ]
SM -1 [ 0 ]
Charisma 1 [ 5 ]
Common Sense [ 10 ]
Magery 0 [ 5 ]
Damage Resistance 1 (tough skin, -40%) [ 3 ]
Racial Skill Bonus: +2 to Alchemy [ 4 ]
Racial Skill Bonus: +2 all Engineer specialties [ 4 ]
Perk – Honest Face [ 1 ]

- Tiefling [ 27 ] (new racial template, outlined below)

Night Vision 5 [ 5 ]
Acid Resistance 3 [DR 3, limited-acid -40%, tough skin -40%) [ 3 ]
Fire Resistance 3 [DR 3, limited-fire -40%, tough skin -40%) [ 3 ]
Cold Resistance 3 [DR 3, limited-cold -40%, tough skin -40%) [ 3 ]
Racial Skill Bonus: +2 to Stealth [ 4 ]
Racial Skill Bonus: +2 to Acting [ 4 ]
Unnatural Features (varies – horns, tail, forked tongue, scaly skin, unnatural eyes, etc.) [ -5 ]
Social Stigma (demonic/infernal ancestry) -2 [ -10 ]
Note – Bloodlust, Callous and Sadism are all very common disadvantages for tieflings, but not universal racial traits

In terms of language, most individuals would probably start with their own tongue at native and then take Common or another language at fluent; e.g., an elf would probably start with Language – Elven (Native) [ 0 ] and also then take Language – Common (Fluent) [ 6 ]. However, I will not require this – entirely possible to have an elf raised among humans who doesn’t actually speak Elven, for example (but this should be a significant feature of your backstory of course).
